The Best Photo Op Spots in Palmetto Dunes

June 6th 2018

There’s nothing like the natural beauty of Hilton Head Island, especially at this time of year! Blue skies, greenery, pops of color, and surprising wildlife are everywhere you look, so no matter where you’re exploring at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, make sure you keep your camera at the ready! Here are some of our favorite photo op spots.

The Lookoff

If you’ve been to Palmetto Dunes before, you might recognize this stunning spot. Just beyond the first bridge on Queen’s Folly Road there’s a breathtaking view of the George Fazio Golf Course and Palmetto Dunes lagoon. Whether you stop to soak in the view, or pause on your bike ride, one thing is for sure, this view is snap-worthy for sure.

Tip: There’s something about the light in late afternoon that makes this view extra special.

Palmetto Dunes Lagoon

We don’t think we can choose just one location on the Palmetto Dunes lagoon…there are too many stunning photo opportunities! Next time you’re canoeing or kayaking, keep your eyes open for birds, fish, turtles, not to mention the beautiful greenery and serene views that abound as you paddle your way through the lagoon’s calm waters.

Tip: Look up! The canopy of the trees during the height of summer is particularly beautiful.

Shelter Cove Marina

Not only is Shelter Cove Marina home to over 180 boat slips, exciting boating adventures, and some sea kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, it’s the perfect place to snap a frame-worthy photo. So whether you’re exploring by sea or by land, make sure you have your camera handy.

Tip: Shelter Cove Marina glows during sunset and the silhouettes of the boats on the water make for a particularly striking image.

Broad Creek

Looking for a stunning seascape? The wide open waters of Broad Creek, stretching for miles under the Southern sky could not be a more perfect setting for a gorgeous photo of Hilton Head’s natural beauty. Rent a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard, or head out on a fishing excursion to see if you can snap a photo and reel in the catch of the day!

Tip: Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins while exploring Broad Creek, they’re plentiful in the warmer spring and summer months.

Palmetto Dunes Beach

With three miles of pristine sandy beach to explore, there’s definitely more than one spot to stop for a photo op on Palmetto Dunes Beach! One of our favorite things to do is bike along the beach, stopping along the way to snap some photos of the waves and the beautiful ocean view.

Tip: There’s no better place than Palmetto Dunes Beach to watch (and photograph) a Lowcountry sunrise.

Beautiful Bike Trails

It’s no secret that the best way to get around Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort is by bike, so book your rental at Hilton Head Outfitters and set out to explore! Our winding, tree-lined bike trails make for some gorgeous images.

Tip: When you book your bike rental, ask for a basket—it’s perfect for carting around your camera and a bottle of water as you explore.

Neptune Statue

The iconic statue overlooking Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina is definitely worth of a photo op! The Roman god of the Sea stands guard over the marina and doubles as a sundial. Standing at 12 feet tall, and with 360-degree views, you’ll be able to capture Neptune from every angle.

Tip: Crouching down on the dais steps makes for a really cool angled shot.

Now all that’s left to do is grab your camera, rent some outdoor equipment, and set off for adventure! Share your photos on social media with us using #HiltonHeadOutfitters.
